Position Overview

Co-reporting to the Headmaster and leadership team, the Special Education Coordinator works with and manages special education for the school. Responsibilities for this position may include supervision of Special Education teachers and paraprofessionals. Oversight of state compliance within Special Education to ensure each student in the program is properly tended to. Coaching special education teachers in alignment with Valor’s mission and vision. Develop, implement, and update IEPs (Individual Education Programs) for students. Adapt lessons to particular student needs and assess their ongoing development Teach students individually or in small groups according to need for growth. Clear communication with school leaders, teachers, and families about individual student’s progress and ways to assist student growth. Maintaining updated certification(s) for the special education team and ensuring Valor’s alignment with state standards. Other roles and duties as assigned.
