Position Overview

As part of a dynamic team, the Development Coordinator will take proactive initiative and responsibility for fundraising results through event planning, project management, scheduling, donor stewardship, database maintenance, and regular campaign reports. The position will provide executive level administrative support and serve as an extension of the Vice President of Development. The candidate will serve as a key liaison between executive leadership and school staff and will help identify and cultivate relationships to build a strong pipeline of development supporters.

Development Coordinator Full Job Description

Administrative Support

  • Serve as the assistant to and an extension of the Development Director
  • Prepare Development Director, executive team, and staff for major donor meetings  
  • Serve as key liaison between executive leadership and school staff
  • Present regular campaign reports to Valor leadership

Event Planning

  • Plan, manage, and execute all details of campaign events, including cultivation gatherings, launch events, galas, and public outreach activities  
  • Collaborate with school leadership and staff in the execution of on-campus events  
  • Coordinate and prepare for donor luncheons
Donor Management System Maintenance
  • Utilize fundraising software and database systems to effectively record donor information and track fundraising activities  
  • Ensure all procedures are documented in an accessible and coherent manner for those involved in fundraising for the Impact Campaign  
  • Regularly compile reports for executive leadership
Team Alignment and Volunteer Management
  • Coordinate committee meetings and compile notes/action items 
  • Communicate succinctly, clearly, and effectively with all parties involved in the campaign: donors, campaign committee, Giving Coordinators, school staff, volunteers, etc. 

Impact Campaign Execution

  • Be a proactive, independent leader that takes initiative and responsibility for results
  • Implement the campaign strategy as directed by the Development Director  
  • Assist with grant writing and copyediting, as needed
Donor Stewardship
  • Ensure pledges and in-kind donations are properly documented and recognized   
  • Coordinate and manage all donor reporting activities, including monthly/quarterly updates, annual reports, acknowledgment letters, appreciation calls, thank you notes, gifts, and personalized recognition efforts

Donor Portfolio Management

  • Focus on growing Valor’s donor database by identifying and cultivating relationships to build a strong pipeline of campaign supporters 
  • Manage a portfolio of donors 
  • Articulately communicate key campaign messages to donors and prospects 
  • Maintain and update campaign prospect lists and related materials 
  • Enthusiastically support and champion Valor’s mission within the community
