Valor College Counselor

Position Overview

Reporting to the Headmaster and working closely with the college counseling team across Valor campuses, the college counselor guides Valor high school students and families in navigating the college application process. The ideal applicant will be a detail-oriented, self-driven candidate with a personal investment in helping Valor students discern and pursue their vocations.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Meeting regularly with high school students to discuss their goals and interests 
  • Providing students with guidance on navigating the college application process and building a list of reach, target, and safety colleges 
  • Working with transfer students to ensure they meet graduation requirements 
  • Advising students on standardized testing schedules, test-optional policies, and preparation resources 
  • Helping families understand financial aid options and how to navigate financial aid applications including student loans and scholarship opportunities 
  • Managing the transmission of student transcripts, school profiles, and counselor recommendations to colleges 
  • Organizing and hosting evening events for families on college counseling and the application process 
  • Hosting college admissions representatives visiting Valor to meet with students
